Our Story

Ashley E. Didier is an Architecturally trained designer and the founder of A Design Story, a luxury residential design studio with projects spanning across the US.  The studio provides a unique positioning in the residential new construction and remodeling sector by offering a holistic approach to the design process, managing the emergence of each project from foundation through furnishings.

With over 14 years of experience in residential construction and design, Ashley brings not only a high level of technical expertise, but also a uniquely modern spin on the traditional home. The studio works closely with discerning homeowners, general contractors, and developers to deliver fully integrated homes that balance architectural integrity with refined interiors.

Her work is defined by true reflections of each client’s distinct story. Informed by extensive construction knowledge and a commanding approach to project leadership, each home is executed with precision. Strategic space planning, thoughtfully considered sourcing, and tailored detailing result in spaces that are both timeless and highly functional.

Ashley’s design approach is further informed by a layered sense of place shaped by the regions she has called home throughout her life and career. Raised in New England, she developed an early appreciation for the character and permanence of traditional architecture. She later received her Bachelors of Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she refined her technical approach and deepened her understanding of the built environment.

Her professional career began in Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked within the luxury residential sector before establishing her own studio in Oklahoma City.  Today, Northern California is home base to A Design Story, further emphasizing Ashley’s multi-regional perspective, allowing her to thoughtfully respond to varying architectural styles, landscapes, and client lifestyles. Her work reflects a nuanced ability to translate design across regions, balancing architectural integrity with the distinct lifestyle and landscape of each location.

This breadth of experience allows the studio to design with both depth and versatility, creating homes that feel grounded in modernity while remaining timeless in execution.
